Background

In collaboration with the National Institute of Healthcare Research (NIHR) and i3Simulation, this project explored the feasibility of an XR-Metaverse platform in promoting healthcare research facilities across North West England.

Challenge

This project investigated whether an XR-Metaverse platform could improve sustainability efforts across NIHR whilst also effectively promoting research facilities to an international audience.

Creative approach

Through qualitative interviews with stakeholders belonging to NIHR and i3Simulations, a pilot study was conducted to see how the designed XR-Metaverse simulation achieves industry goals of sustainability and global connection.

Outcome

The pilot investigation uncovered the potential for the platform to address issues associated with sustainability, global visibility and global connection. Also uncovered were future opportunities to incorporate Artificial Intelligence and virtual host functions, participant recruitment sites, and to replicate more healthcare research facilities.
