PhD Student wins Best Paper Award at XRM 2025

Congratulations to our excellent PhD candidate Maria Alamgir took home Best Paper Award at the 2025 International XR-Metaverse Conference, Maastricht.

The 10th International XR-Metaverse Conference 2025 was a milestone event held in Maastricht, Netherlands, from June 24 to 27, 2025. Organised by the IAITI, the conference celebrated its 10th anniversary by focusing on how immersive technologies can move from “hype” to meaningful, real-world integration.

On winning the award, Maria said:

” Winning the Best Paper Award at the International XR-Metaverse Conference 2025 in Maastricht was a significant milestone in my PhD journey. Organised by the International Association of Immersive Technology Innovation in collaboration with the ARVR Hub, XRM brings together researchers and industry leaders working on XR, AR, VR, AI, and metaverse technologies. My paper, “Virtual Reality as a Possible Therapy for Improving General Health,” progressed from being shortlisted to receiving the Best PhD Paper Award, marking an important moment in my doctoral research and highlighting the interdisciplinary connection between immersive technologies and health.”
