Converging Realities: Industry, Education, & AI-Enabled Virtual Worlds

IAItI’s President Professor Timothy Jung and Vice President Dr Mandy tom Dieck – also core members of the ARVR hub – are thrilled to announce they will be returning to chair the 11th International XR Metaverse Conference 2026. Where innovation meets collaboration, this conference advances XR and Metaverse research while forging meaningful connections between academia and industry. Join immersive discussions on Converging Realities, exploring how physical and virtual worlds are coming together to transform industry, education, healthcare and entertainment—and how AI is shaping the next generation of virtual environments.

The International XR-Metaverse Conference, organised by the International Association of Immersive Technology Innovation (IAITI), was established to provide a global platform for advancing research, innovation and collaboration in immersive technologies. Since its inception, the conference has brought together leading academics, industry experts, policymakers and practitioners to explore the rapidly evolving fields of extended reality (XR), the metaverse and related digital technologies.

Over the years, the conference has evolved alongside the technology itself—expanding from early discussions on virtual and augmented reality to broader debates on metaverse ecosystems, AI integration, digital twins and human-centred immersive experiences. With a strong focus on bridging research and real-world application, the event has become a key annual meeting point for shaping future directions across sectors including education, tourism, healthcare, culture and industry
