Moot Court VR

Background

In collaboration with HEC Liège, this project investigated the potential of using virtual reality as a simulation tool for mooting in legal education.

Challenge

The project aimed to understand the learning impacts of VR on the mooting experience, the technological suitability of VR for the mooting context, and the role of individual learner characteristics on their VR mooting experience.

Creative approach

An initial design study was conducted with HEC Liège to develop a suitable VR mooting application. The environment was designed based on literature and qualitative feedback from law educators and VR experts.

4 qualitative case studies at 4 UK universities were conducted to analyse key themes related to VR learning, technological feasibility, and contextual factors.

Outcome

The project resulted in the development of a practical framework to guide the implementation of VR to the higher legal education context.
